  • Hi, Admin.

I want to put images like yours in the header but with my name of the blog, and instead of mountain and snow are skycrapers and images of workers like engineers, nurses, office workers, so forth. The width should be longer but the height is all right.

I will pay you. Just give me the scripts to install it.

Is it possible to loose the DATE under the Title’s of a POST? Where can i find the file to edit ?

  • Hi! And thanks for a great theme :)

I only have one problem. When using opera browser, there is a large vertical space between posts on the front page. Take a look at http://ellingsen.ws/spill

Is there any quick fix to this?

    Thanks.

I know it’s the javascript, but i can’t reproduce it.
i try to make one column excerpts, but they displayed fine in Opera.

Go to includes/js.php and delete this line:

      for(i=1;i<100;i++){$(‘.postwrap-’+i).sameh();}

but it will make bad looks when more than one column used for the excerpt.

i’ll do the fix for next release (after 1.2.4)

It would be great if you would add the option to add the author’s name and date to posts on the main page. It’s quite unusual to leave off the author’s name from a post. I would really prefer to not have to edit your theme to get this very basic functionality. :-D

    Hi,

I love this theme, mymag was a fav before but this does so much more, I have one query at the moment though. I’m using a datafeed, your theme states that you can grab the embedded first image and use it as a thumb which it does if on site, is this possible when they’re external images please? or is there a way to fool it into thinking its on site and not external? as I have several thousand products which would look great with an image on frontpage.

    Thanks
    Squillions

    • itx says:

Calotropis only try to catch the first attachment actually. External images can’t be used as attachments nor featured image/post thumbnails in WordPress. you have to upload the image to your server in order to use it as post thumbnail.

if the question is it possible? yes it is possible, but a lot code working and/or server resources needed.

    • Squillions says:

Could you email me please so can discuss additional workaround?

      Thanks

Me again, I was wondering which parts to change in archive.php so theme can work with ‘Category Page’ please so I can have different intros for each category?

i think you should follow the instruction there.

Thanks for reply, I tried finding the correct line as indicated but wording is different. They suggest contacting theme developer and asking which to edit…

  • Debbie says:

I would like for you to add a featured post slideshow to the “featured” area. I’ve tried several plugins for that, but can’t seem to get any of them to work correctly. There is WP Slideshow that can be inserted as a widget into the top inner sidebar area, but it seems to throw off the layout of the rest of the page. If you know of a plugin that would work especially well, I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you so much for listening to us and keeping the theme updated. We love it!

  • I want to first thank you for a fantastic theme. I really have no complaints…just a wish ;-)

I would like to change the colors of the font’s on the front page. So the name of the blog is Blue and the typing is black. I would also like to change some of the color and font of the top bar just below the header.
Is there anyway to do this?
    Thanks again,
    -Ryan

I would like to be able to customize the navigation menu and remove or at the least change the color of the verticle white lines seperating pages or posts.

  • Thanx for the theme. It’s fantastic!

an input for meta tags in the header would be great. or can someone tell me how and where to write the meta tags (keywords, description). thanks for your help.

  • someone has a solution about how and where I use keywords and description

  • Trevor says:

How do I change the colour of the navigation bar? I alsow ant the header to have a background colour different than the main area – I set these as different but the background colour overrides the header colour. How do I fix this?

    Trevor

    • itx says:

      1. you got to have a good understanding about CSS to do that. just add a declaration in style.css

      2. the background won’t override the header color by default. maybe you changed/add something in the code.

  • Claude says:

I want to change my website to your theme, which I find very attractive and reader-friendly, but, amongs the details or features I want to customize, there are a few that I haven’t been able to fix yet:

    1. I need to get rid of the menu bar, as I won’t be using menus. Right now, when you deactivate menus, it still shows a blank bar.

    2. I need to get rid of the RSS icon and link in the header.

    3. How do I alter the number of posts that appear per page?

    4. I’d like the text “read the rest” (or whatever I customize it to) to only appear following the featured or top post and not with the smaller thumbnails.

    5. I’d like to reverse the numbering of the page navigation bar at the bottom so that the oldest, not the newest, page is “1″ .

    Thank you!

    • Claude says:

For anyone else wanting to get rid of the menu bar, I found a cheat. But it’s only a cheat. Choose “WordPress Nav Menu” in the theme options. Then create a WordPress menu (give it a name) but leave it empty. Then save the menu, then select it in “theme locations”, then save. And voilà, the menu bar disappears. It worked in Firefox, IE8, Chrome, and Safari.

    • itx says:

      1. added bugfix for next release (after 1.2.5). You can also add #menu{display:none;} to style.css to fix that.

      2. you have to do it manually for now. go to header.php and delete everything inside div with id=”links”

      4. It’s not easy to do that.

      5. I guess we can’t do that easily. It’s WordPress issue.

    • Claude says:

Thank you so much! All that worked. I should point out that the “header.php” file that appears in the WordPress editor is NOT that one that needs editing. I would have been able to figure it out had it been. Going into cPanel, I found that the theme has several “header.php” files in its submenus, but only of the them, not the right one, appears in the WordPress editor. The one that needs editing is in the top menu.

Again, thanks so much for the help. I’m so close to being able to go live now.

  • Claude says:

I just figured out that the number of posts per page is not a theme option but can simple be changed in WordPress options. So that answers #3.

  • Claude says:

I have another query: there’s extra padding on top of featured posts (and on top of the archives heading in search results, but only on the first pages of results).
as of page 2, the extra padding disappears. How do I remove that extra padding from the top of feautured posts and page 1 of archives/searches?

    Thank you!

    • itx says:

it’s because the Inner Top Widget Area giving a margin. I assume you don’t use that widget area.
      Add this to style.css:
      #main #innertop{margin:0;}

Special menu from the recent category’s article

I would like to create a menu thatshows the articles of the recent category, the category of the post I am.
Would You be so kind to help me in that?
    Thank You:-)

    • itx says:

That’s a special task. go googling about that.
The simplest you can do is manually edit the menu item in wordpress nav menu.

  • andi says:

    Posts not appears on frontpage

I would like to add new posts, but I dont want them to be seen on the frontpage. Can I do that somehow?

Thank You very much for Your answer!

  • Claude says:

I just noticed a minor bug. When the number of posts ends exactly at the bottom of a page, the page navigation shows that there’s still one more page, but when you click on it you get an error message that there’s no such page. For example, if you have 10 posts, and you front page shows all 10, and your settings are 9 posts per page (in this case, feature + 9 thumbs), the bar will show a shadow 2nd page. I you have fewer, say 7, then no problem, or if you have more, say 12, with a second page showing only two, then again, no problem.

    • Claude says:

Another minor (and strange) bug: for two consecutive posts, and those two posts only, the “read the rest” text does not appear on the main page (I uploaded a couple of dozen posts to my test site to try to test every possible thing I can think of). As far as I can tell, there’s nothing different about those two posts from any other post. Very odd. Do you have any idea what could cause that?

    • Claude says:

More on the absence of “read the rest”: I uploaded a few more posts, and it failed to appear on two others. What they all have in common? All those it doesn’t appear with all use the (a)slideshow plugin ( http://slideshow.hohli.com/ ); BUT some other posts using the plugin still show the “read the rest” text.

    • itx says:

      thanks for the report.

      1. the wrong page count fixed for nest release.

      2. Do the post is long enough or it is very short? please let me see the website

    • Claude says:

I responded to your answer a few minutes ago, but the response never appeared. I think because it had links it was considered spam.

Thanks for your fast and useful responses.

If you send me your email, I can send you the link to the staging site where I’m testing your theme.

Also: I want to put extra bottom padding in the footer to accommodate a toolbar, but I was only successful in raising the left-hand element (the name of the site) not the right-hand element (the theme credit)

    • itx says:

It’s clearly because there’s no text in your post(s). The excerpts in wordpress behave like that, when no more text to show (all text are printed in frontpage and not cropped) then no “[...]” nor “read the rest” will be rendered.

to put extra padding, add this to style.css :
      #footwrap {padding-bottom: 40px;}

    • Claude says:

Thank you so much! Both of those solutions worked!

  • Claude says:

A question: which file defines styles such as h1, h2, h3, etc.? I’ve looked in every file I could think of, and I can’t find the definitions.

    Thanks!

And thanks again for creating such a great theme. I’m so eager to go live with it!

    • itx says:

The browser sets most of the styles. You can see that css/default.css only sets the margin and padding.

  • Claude says:

To make some more tests, I installed your theme on a second testing site, but this time, even though I used the same front page settings, and even though I’m using the same test posts, none of the images load in the preview windows. However, if I do a new post, then it finds the image. But it doesn’t find the images to preview pre-existing posts. Oddly, I did not have this problem on my first installation. I tested with both 1.2.3 and 1.2.4 on the new test site, and the same problem occured. When I go live on my real site, it will already have 25 to 30 prior posts, and I’d like to avoid this problem from occuring. Why did it not happen the first time, and why is it happening now? What could I be doing differently?

    • Claude says:

The third time I uninstalled and reinstalled it, it worked. No idea why it worked that time and not the other times. How strange….

    • itx says:

the preview is imperfect, don’t depend on it.

  • James says:

Great theme, thanks so much. I have a question as to how you remove the padding and the page name from the top left corner of the static page.

    Kind regards,

    James

  • AWESOME THEME!
I tried it out and it is BETTER than any paid theme I have purchased in the last year! WTG!
    Kudos.Rebecca

Great looking site Rebecca. Can you help me? I wanted to do a similar look as you have on your home page and can’t figure out how.

      thanks so much

  • Lynn says:

Hi, I have been doing my best to make changes that will give this site a better accessibility rating. So far, I have had to change the search field, add a text resizer, and now I need to make it so that a blind person with a text-reader doesn’t go through the page with the features and excerpts and have a bunch of …Read the Rest links that don’t call the title out for each. I have been researching code for this, but I can’t seem to get it to work. Can you help? Here is the code that other’s have written for this. Maybe you could integrate this as an option for people who want to make their sites accessible for the disabled. Thanks!

    Hello
    Best theme!
How can I RTL the text?
    Thanks a lot

This is such a very nice idea! Having whiskies and other drinks come in small bottles. We get to taste the whisky first before we decide to buy. If we don’t like the taste then we won’t buy it. No waste of money.
